Phoenix, AZ – On Saturday, October 17, 2015, Southwest Industrial Rigging employees donated their time to assist with Barrios Bellos, a neighborhood cleanup project that SWIR has been involved with since 2011. The clean-up on Saturday took place in South Phoenix in a neighborhood located just outside of our facility off 35th Ave & Broadway Road. SWIR employees, along with other volunteers around the valley, assisted in cleaning the streets and alleys to remove trash, graffiti and plant new trees. Southwest donates Sky Track Forklifts and trash skips on the day of the cleanup-projects, and also hauls away the trash collected from the neighborhood. As part of the neighborhood project, the students of Maurice C. Cash Elementary School participated in the Clean and Green Art Contest, where students depicted how they envision their neighborhood as environmentally conscious and clean. SWIR’s Andy Perez was a judge for the contest.

Our facilities manager, Andy Perez, represents and organizes volunteer efforts for several projects throughout the year. The company has received two partnership awards since 2011 from the City of Phoenix Neighborhood Service Department, in recognition of our contributions to the communities in which we operate. “It means a lot to me and the guys to represent SWIR at these events to make a positive difference in the neighborhoods right here in our community. We wouldn’t be able to provide the volunteers and the equipment necessary to support these community clean-up projects without the support of SWIR management and our owner and president, Mr. Harry Baker.”
SWIR's Sky Tracks and clean up equipment volunteered for the neighborhood beautifying project.
Southwest has several more events coming up for 2015 including a food drive for the holiday season and a drive to collect critically needed items for our troops overseas. If you are interested in donating to either of the collection drives, please contact us.
